The intern is about a 70-year-old man, Ben Whittaker(Robert De Niro), who retired and felt life is boring. He needs some challenges and he found a job advertisement. An online fashion retailer is hiring a senior intern. He successfully applied for it. On the first day, he met the other interns and waited for a meeting with the CEO - Jules Ostin(Anne Hathaway).
The movie was really touching. As the movie slogan says "Experience never gets old", Ben tackled many problems by being observative at everything and used his experience to judge. He has lived in Brooklyn and worked in the same building for phone book printing company for 40 years. The company was closed. It became the office for About The Fit (ATF).
At first, Jules ignored Ben and didn't give him much to work. She built trust with him when he drove Jules to other meetings. Since then, he drove Jules to work every morning. Jules felt Ben's too obervative and transferred him to other teams. But when she found that Ben was the best person to work with her, she appologised to Ben sincerely.
The funniest part of the movie was breaking into Jules' mom's house to delete an email. They pretended the characters of Ocean 11. All the audienece in the cinema burst into laugther.
ATF is a start-up and receiving venture capital's funding. Within 18 months, the company grows from few staff to 220. The management suggests having a new CEO instead of Jules to lead ATF. Jules felt really upset about it.
The whole story reflected the experiences from a retired man can be useful. And the aging population in developed countries seem like a burden to many countries like Japan. So we should find a way to make use of the experiences of elderly people.
